HOW GOD SAVED ME FROM CORONAVIRUS
MY TESTIMONY
Towards the end of 2019, I prayed a strong prayer to God.
I said “Lord, if you will not follow me into 2020, do not let me see it”.
Exodus 33:15 – “Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place.”
I was so serious with that prayer but I did not know exactly why I was praying it. Of course, we Christians know that without God we are doomed. But we like to assume that God is with us even when we are not with him.
The first case of COVID-19 was reported Dec. 1, 2019 in China. Nobody could explain what was going on in clear terms.
The first confirmed case in Nigeria was announced on 27 February 2020, when an Italian national in Lagos tested positive for the virus. I became worried and scared.
I was scared because I was working in a bank which happens to be a place where people visit everyday. And as if that was not risky enough, my branch was inside a market. The most careless set of people may be found in the marketplace.
God noticed how scared I was and he spoke to me very clearly. He said “I am with you”. I was relieved after that revelation.
Psalm 91:3 “For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.”
On 11 March 2020, WHO declared Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak as a pandemic. Nigeria reported its first coronavirus-related death on Monday, March 23, 2020.
The news worried most Nigerians as we had no idea about what had befallen our world. I got worried again. My office was inside the market and I saw how market men and women walked in and out of my office daily.
Then the good Lord came to me again. He said to me, “I told you before that you cannot contract Coronavirus, I am saying it again, you cannot contract Coronavirus!”
When I woke up from that revelation, I was filled with joy. My faith was boosted and I became fearless from that day.
Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Even though I had the assurance that I would not be infected by the virus, I was still the most careful person in my office. I had my face mask on and my hand sanitizer was always with me. For I knew better than to test my Lord, my God.
Matthew 4:7 AMP – “Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written and forever remains written, ‘You shall not test the Lord your God. ”
And true to his word, the Lord shielded me from Coronavirus.
Towards the end of 2020, one fateful night, God gave me a revelation. In that revelation, he showed me a close colleague of mine. He asked me to be careful around her but the reason was not clear. So I did not know how to be careful around her as we worked together on a daily basis. So, I prayed and told God to shield me from any danger he has seen.
In December that same year, my office was preparing for our usual end of year party. And this my colleague was the coordinator of the event. God had told me that I was not going to attend the party. So, I told her. But it did not make sense to her or anybody in the office. It was very unlike me.
On the day of the party, God asked me to stay indoors. Indoors in Holy Ghost School is a time you spend in God’s presence alone. It is different from covenant time. Covenant time is everyday at the same time but indoors is as instructed by God and could be the whole day. It can also be for days in a stretch.
So I spent most part of that day in God’s presence.
The night before the next working day, I got a call from the head of operations that the office was not going to be opened the next day. He informed me that that same friend of mine got ill during the party. It got so serious that she had to be taken to the hospital. Tests were carried out on her and it was revealed that she had Coronavirus. So, the call was to inform me that the bank has directed that we all report for testing.
After the testing, five other people were confirmed positive.
That was how God saved me from contracting Coronavirus.
Why am I sharing this testimony?
What if I did not hear from God or I heard but did not understand. What if I trivialized it because I thought I was too civilized?
It is clear that I would have caught the virus. And if I had died, people would have mocked. They will say “and he always talked about relationship with Jesus”. Some will use their favorite slag, “Christianity is a scam”. Some will even say “he was probably pretending to be a Christian “.
The truth is that I was not better than those who caught the virus. It does not mean that they were not Christians. They all survived it by God’s mercy. Maybe I would not have survived it. And I believe God knew that my case would have been devastating.
Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”
Only the scientist that created the robots knows the strength and weakness of each robot. If a robot sees other robots entering water and decides to enter, without an express permission from the designer, that robot may not come out from that water functioning well. That is how we are to God.
I have shared this testimony to emphasize the importance of a personal relationship with God. God wants to have a conversational relationship with all his children. It will save us from many unnecessary troubles we go through.
I have come to realized that many Christians are in their present predicament because they are spiritually deaf. God is talking but they cannot hear.
Why not decided today to serve God the right way. Do away with religion – serving God in his absence.
And establish a personal relationship with God today.
