Why the devil is smarter than us Christians

 

The reason why children raised in the streets appear to be smarter than children who grew up in rich homes, is the constant survival mode the former grew up in. Children in the streets are usually exposed to life’s dangers early in life. They face it and understand how to maneuver it before their age mates from rich homes are even aware of such dangers.

 

To survive a in society and thrive, you must study the society to know how it works. You must know those who influence things and how you can avoid unnecessary friction with them.

 

Martial arts like Wing Chun and Aikido, teaches you to use the enemy’s strength against them. To do this, you must be sensitive to your enemy’s movement. You have to be able to see your enemy’s move before it is made.

 

2 Corinthians 2:11  “so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.

 

Matthew 10:16 “Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.

 

Christians no longer study the ways of the serpent, neither do we study the ways of the dove. Yet, we remain as sheep among wolves.

 

Jesus was preaching in Luke 16:8, he said;

“The rich man had to admire the dishonest rascal for being so shrewd. And it is true that the children of this world are shrewder in dealing with the world around them than are the children of the light.

 

Being shrewd in the above scripture, is the opposite of being naïve.

 

As a Christian, we are at war with the enemy. And what is the war about? It is for the souls of those who have not yet seen the light. While we fight to bring them to light, the devil fights to keep them in darkness.

 

Are we applying wisdom in this fight or the devil has outsmarted us against the admonition in 2 Corinthians 2:11? Our fruits will tell.

 

This is how the devil became smarter than the children of light;

 

The devil adopted the advice that Jesus gave his disciples in Matthew 10:16 where he said: “Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.

 

The devil is now as smart as the serpent and gentle as a dove. This supposed to be the quality of a Spirit-filled Christian.

 

We seem to have swapped mode of operation with the devil.

The devil no longer confront people who are attracted to the things of God. He only suggests a second way which oftentimes seems safe and okay.

 

“You want to study your Bible at 8pm daily, that’s fine. Just try and watch that sexy movie series before bed daily.” Sounds nice right?

 

“You are planning to stop masturbation right? Good idea. Just do it this last time, you can stop tomorrow. ”

 

The devil tries as much as possible to be friends with Christians, and do everything possible to appear innocent. But Christians most times, avoid being friends with sinners or even with weaker Christians. We condemn them before we even know them. This is a direct opposite of what Jesus Christ sent us to do.

 

Mark 2:16-17

But when the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees saw him eating with tax collectors and other sinners, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with such scum?”

“When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

 

Even a fallen Christian is summarily executed by fellow Christians but the devil often encourages them and give them the impression that their falling is not actually a fall. A fallen Christian suddenly become an outcast in the body of Christ. A direct opposite of what Jesus taught us.

 

We no longer love one another. We are easily jealous of the success of our fellow brethren.

 

The bigger picture is lost on us and we are now building individual empires within the body of Christ While the enemy is building alliances around the world and coordinating his operations.

A gifted singer is discovered within the body of Christ, cell leaders in the enemy’s camp puts a call around the world, requesting the help of other demonic cell leaders to help rebrand the gifted child. Christians look the other way. Generals are mute.

We no longer follow Jesus daily. Our love for righteousness has waxed cold. We have disconnected from the Holy Spirit and wisdom has left us.

 

So you can see that we are not streetwise. We are not even familiar with the schemes of the enemy. The closer we are to God, the better our understanding of the enemy will be.

 

This is why the devil is smarter than us.
