STRATEGIES FOR THE NEXT REVOLUTION IN NIGERIA (PART 1).

Enlightenment of the Military and Police.

The predominant fear among Nigerians regarding major public protests is the potential for mass casualties inflicted by the Nigerian military and police. This fear is well-founded, with the tragic events of October 20, 2020, serving as a stark reference point. To ensure the success of any future national protest, it is imperative that we address this concern strategically and thoroughly.

Addressing the Root of the Issue

While it may be impossible to entirely eliminate the risk of violent suppression, it is crucial to examine the underlying causes critically. A key reason why politicians can command the military and police to act against civilians with such ease is ignorance within the ranks. Our military personnel often remain unaware that they, too, are victims of the corrupt political elite. Therefore, our primary duty is to enlighten them.

Focus on Junior Officers and Other Ranks

Our enlightenment campaign should target junior military and police officers, as well as other ranks. Utilizing skilled investigative journalists, we need to expose the extent of corruption and decay within these institutions and highlight how it adversely affects young officers and enlisted personnel.

Investigating Financial Mismanagement

A thorough investigation should reveal how financial embezzlement by senior officers impacts the rank and file. We need to uncover how funds intended for junior officers are misappropriated for personal gain by their superiors, who also exploit these young men and women by sending them into dangerous situations without adequate support or equipment. Additionally, it is vital to document instances where the widows of fallen soldiers are subjected to sexual harassment before they can claim their late husbands’ benefits.

Highlighting Negligence and Mismanagement

We must investigate and present clear evidence of how many soldiers are sent to avoidable deaths and how senior officers continue to profit from the ongoing conflict. An examination of the military and police budgets will show how resources meant for equipping soldiers are diverted, leaving them without basic protective gear like bulletproof vests and helmets. Moreover, the families of deceased soldiers often learn about their loved ones’ deaths through rumors, highlighting a gross lack of communication and support from the military.

Exposing the True Enemies

The goal of this investigation is to liberate our brothers and sisters in the military and police from ignorance, revealing that the real enemies are the senior officers who exploit and endanger them. By demonstrating the systemic issues within the military and police, we can foster a sense of solidarity between these forces and the civilian population.

Utilizing Investigative Journalism

We have some of the best investigative journalists in Africa on our side, including Fisayo Soyombo and David Hundeyin. Their expertise will be invaluable in uncovering the truth and presenting it to both the military personnel and the public.

Shalom.
