People will pull you down with worship
II Corinthians 2:11
“lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
We should not be ignorant of the devices of the enemy.
Many people see this verse and just think about spiritual attack. No.
The least of Satan’s devices against a believer is to attack in an obvious manner.
The Bible says that the devil appears like the angel of light. He is the master of deciet.
II Corinthians 11:14 “And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”
A lot of Christian ministers have been brought down by a very powerful weapon that the devil has found effective.
It is the spirit of pride. The devil is a very smart being. He learns from his every mistake and has lived longer than any human. This means that the devil is ordinarily wiser than any man. It is only when we have the Holy Spirit in us that we can see through the devil. This is what we call discernment.
I Corinthians 12:10 “to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another DISCERNING of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.”
The devil was driven out of heaven because he became proud of his position. So he knows that God abhors the proud and the Bible confirms this.
The scripture lays a lot of emphasis on this issue of pride. It destroys the relationship between God and any believer.
Proverbs 16:5
“Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.”
The spirit of pride does not come knocking on the front door. It comes through the back door and sneaks in.
Today we see a lot of church members who like to worship their pastors. A lot of these people do it out of ignorance and God expects the pastors to know better and correct their followers.
But there are some other people in th church whose mission is to bring down men and women of God. This fight is not a conventional one but a guerrilla warfare. They ambush you when you least expected.
This people make you feel you have arrived. They give you the impression that it is God that is honoring you. They worship you to the extent that you forget that you need God every second. Then you start to see yourself as being superior to them and start to treat them as such.
These evil people have taken it a step further to start faking miracles to make sinning pastors think God still uses them even with their sin. They fake miracles without any collaboration with the pastors or the church.
I had a revelation many years ago and some demons were praising me. They told me I am a very strong person. I shared the dream with my friend and he laughed. He told me that it was the devil trying to attack me with the spirit of pride. So I learnt this very early.
We must learn to descern these people and rebuke them sharply.
It is important that Christians have a personal relationship with God where feedback is given daily by God. By having a personal conversational relationship with God, we are able to know on time when we are going astray.
We must not accept worship or undue reverence from anybody. We must be quick to direct them to God.
There is nothing wrong with respecting church leaders. But we should know the limit.
May God give us understanding.
Shalom.
